what will israel do if this war becomes part of the problem in israel, starts to spill over more and more and affect the people? >> i think they must understand their own limitations as well. but if it would happen, we shall defend ourselves. that i can say. i don't want exaggerate and to make great declarations and -- no, we are not interested. syria has enough problems of their own and it doesn't gain us any pleasure. but if they're in danger of life, we shall defend ourselves. >> reporter: so you heard a very diplomatic response saying they're going to take a very measured stance when it comes to syria because they really do believe that the war in syria is out of control there, but that israel is not the target at this point, wolf. >> so some tensions along the north, along the golan heights with syria, but there are other tensions along the south along the gaza front between the israelis and the palestinians in gaza. hamas specifically. what's the latest there, sara? >> reporter: much more dire tensions, if you will. there have been more than 100 rockets that have come over from

in 2006 you were being evacuated out of lebanon on to a marine corps warship in the hezbollah israel war. you got on the ship and you came face-to-face with a cnn crew and there is barbara starr. she passes on her very warmest regards. >> we have been trapped under bombardment for about a week and finally were evacuated and i'll never forget standing there on the beach and having the hatch open up and the first person i saw was barbara starr and the cnn crew. i can tell you it made an impression. clearly. >> what do you make of this petraeus scandal? what scandal? what does it say about america now? about the puritan call view that people take? time to have a different view in your world of chefs crazier, madder, the better, infidelities is almost de rigueur, along with wild drinking and everything else? >> we hold people to impossible, ridiculous hypocritical standard. should this destroy a great career? should this alone? i don't know. but as has been pointed out elsewhere, these are the times we live in now. we certainly knew it. it seems like -- it's shockingly risky behavior. >>
